How to Prepare for a Peer Review:
Introduction
This series of pages walks you through the steps for
planning and completing a successful peer review of your firm's accounting and auditing practice. The material is organized
into a chronological timeline of tasks that shows you what to do and when. The
tasks are grouped into seven parts that coincide with where you in your review
cycle:
The length of time and cost
of your review depends on the:
- Size of your firm and its accounting and auditing practice
- Number of individuals performing accounting/auditing engagements
- Complexity of the firm's engagements
- Number of offices in the firm
- Changes in firm structure, such as mergers or personnel changes
- Design of and compliance with the firm's system of quality control
- Engagement issues or deficiencies, if any, encountered during the review
- Degree of preparation, including the performance of internal monitoring
- Availability of personnel during the review to answer questions
