Duane Reyhl About the Author:
Peer Review Experience: I was the technical director for the Peer Review Program of the California Society of CPAs from its inception in 1990 through 1996. As part of that function, I oversaw the program's technical review process, managed its technical reviewers, and assisted reviewers and firms with technical questions related to peer review and professional standards. I also wrote the California Reviewer, the quarterly newsletter of the Peer Review Program. I have performed many Peer Review Program and SECPS peer reviews and have consulted with reviewers and firms regarding their quality control documents and related policies and procedures. Other CPA Experience: Prior to my peer review work at CalCPA, I was the partner-in-charge of auditing, accounting and quality control for a local Oakland, California CPA firm. After working at CalCPA, I returned to public practice in a San Jose, California CPA firm as a senior accounting and auditing manager and performed numerous peer reviews. Professional Associations: I am a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Michigan Association of CPAs. I also chair the MACPA's Auditing Standards Task Force and serve as a member of the Peer Review and A&A Conference Planning Task Forces. While in California, I was a member of the CalCPA's State Accounting Principles and Auditing Standards Committee (chair of the Audit Subcommittee), and a former chair of two local chapter committees. I was a founding member of the CalCPA's Quality Review committee and have served as a CalCPA chapter director and editor for the East Bay chapter Bulletin. Teaching Experience: My teaching experience includes continuing education courses for the AICPA, CalCPA Education Foundation, and Michigan Association of CPAs and beginning accounting for a community college. I have written and taught these courses:
I speak frequently on audit, accounting and peer review topics for the Michigan Association of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs. I have been a discussion leader at the American Institute of CPAs' Peer Review Conferences. In addition, I have taught a section of the course, Financial Statements in the Courtroom for the National Judicial College and have taught California state and county governmental staff auditors. Interests: My passions include my family, writing, storytelling, designing fishing lures, writing songs, singing and playing the acoustic guitar. More Information:
